Onion Soup
Onion Soup is a savory and aromatic delicacy that’s known for its depth of flavor and heartwarming qualities. Made with caramelized onions simmered in a rich beef broth and seasoned just right, it becomes a bowl of comfort. When served with toasted French bread and melted cheese, the soup transforms into a culinary masterpiece, reminiscent of classic French bistros. Ingredients
- 3 c. Onions, sliced
- 4 T. Butter or Margarine
- 4 c. Beef Broth
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/4 tsp. M-K Granulated Black Pepper
- 1 tsp. Salt
- Toasted French bread squares (optional for serving)
- Slices of cheddar or Swiss cheese (optional for serving)
Directions
- In a large pot, melt butter or margarine over low heat.
- Add the sliced onions and sauté until they’re tender and translucent. This should take about 30 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth, then add Worcestershire sauce, M-K Granulated Black Pepper, and salt.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
- To serve in the traditional French manner:
- Place a toasted French bread square at the bottom of each serving bowl.
- Top with a slice of cheddar or Swiss cheese.
- Ladle the hot soup over the bread and cheese.
- Optionally, place the bowl under a broiler for 1 minute or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
