Basic Chili Con Carne

Ingredients
- 12 lb. Lean Beef
- 12 c. Onion, finely chopped
- 1 c. Shortening
- 1 No. 10 can Tomatoes
- 3 qt. Water
- 3 T. Salt
- 1 1/2 c. M-K Chili Powder
Directions
- Coarsely chop or grind the beef.
- In a large pan, melt the shortening and then add the meat and finely chopped onion.
- Cover the pan and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully cooked.
- Mash or blend the tomatoes until smooth and then incorporate them into the cooked meat mixture.
- Add in the water, salt, and M-K Chili Powder, stirring well.
- Let the mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld and it is thoroughly heated.
