Marion Kay Famous Casserole

Ingredients

  • 2 T. Shortening
  • 6 oz. Vermicelli Noodles or Spaghetti, broken into small pieces
  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1 Green Pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 small Onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 stalks Celery, thinly sliced
  • 1 c. Whole Kernel Corn
  • 2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. M-K Granulated Black Pepper
  • 2 tsp. M-K Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp. M-K Granulated Garlic
  • 1 can Tomatoes
  • 3/4 c. Water
  • 1 (8-oz.) pkg. American Cheese Slices

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the shortening over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the dry noodles and sauté until they’re lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until the meat is no longer pink.
  4. Mix in the green pepper, onions, celery, corn, salt, M-K Granulated Black Pepper, M-K Chili Powder, and M-K Granulated Garlic. Stir until well combined.
  5. Pour in the tomatoes and water, stirring gently to incorporate all the ingredients.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the mixture simmer for 25 to 30 minutes.
  7. Arrange the American cheese slices on top of the mixture, ensuring an even spread.
  8. Cover the skillet again and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
