Ingredients
- 1 c. Raisins
- 1 c. Brown Sugar
- 1/2 c. Shortening
- 1 c. Boiling Water
- 1 c. White Syrup
- 3 c. Flour
- 1 tsp. M-K Ground Ginger
- 1 tsp. M-K Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
Directions
- Preparing the Mixture: Begin by combining raisins, brown sugar, shortening, white syrup, and boiling water in a large mixing bowl. Ensure the ingredients are well-blended.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, M-K Ground Ginger, M-K Ground Cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. This ensures even distribution of spices and aerates the flour.
- Gradually blend the dry mixture into the wet mixture, ensuring a smooth batter without any lumps.
- Baking: Pour the batter into a 9 x 13-inch cake pan that has been greased and lightly floured.
- Place the pan in a preheated oven at 350°. Allow the gingerbread to bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the gingerbread from the oven and allow it to cool slightly.
- Serving: Slice the gingerbread into desired portions and top each serving with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
Tip: For an extra festive touch, sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon or grated orange zest on top of the whipped cream before serving.
