Apple Cinnamon Cookies

Cookie Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. Brown Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 c. Flour
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp. MK Apple Pie Spice
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 c. Milk
  • 1 c. Nuts, chopped (choose between walnuts, pecans, or your favorite)
  • 1 c. Raisins
  • 1 c. Apples, unpared and finely chopped

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. Powdered Sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp. Milk
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1/4 tsp. M-K Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp. Butter or Margarine melted

Cookie Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C).
  2. Cream together shortening, brown sugar, and egg in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, MK Apple Pie Spice, and salt.
  4. Gradually add half of the dry ingredient mixture into the creamed mixture.
  5. Blend in the milk.
  6. Gradually mix in the remaining dry ingredients until just combined.
  7. Stir in the chopped nuts, raisins, and apples.
  8. Drop the cookie dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Glaze Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, salt, M-K Pure Vanilla Extract, and melted butter.
  2. Whisk until smooth and creamy. If the glaze is too thick, add a little more milk, a teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.
  3. Once the cookies have cooled completely, spread or drizzle the vanilla glaze over each one.
