Louisiana Shrimp Gumbo

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Oil
  • 1 c. Flour
  • 3 cloves Garlic, chopped
  • 1 lg. Onion, chopped
  • 1 c. Green Onions, chopped
  • M-K Granulated Black Pepper (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 c. Parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 c. Bell Peppers, chopped
  • 1/4 c. Celery, chopped
  • 2 lb. Shrimp
  • 1 1/2 lb. Sausage
  • M-K File Powder (to taste)

Directions

  1. In a large gumbo pot, make a roux using the oil and flour.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it becomes caramel in color.
  3. Remove from heat and add all the ingredients, excluding the M-K File Powder.
  4. Boil for approximately 2 hours or until meat is tender and gumbo thickens.
  5. Incorporate shrimp and cook for another 20 minutes.
  6. Stir in the M-K File Powder according to your taste preference.
  7. Serve over a bed of hot rice.
