Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Shortening
  • 3/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 2 c. Flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 2 tsp. M-K Apple Pie Spice
  • 1 c. Seedless Raisins
  • 1 c. Nuts, chopped
  • 1 c. Applesauce
  • 1/2 tsp. M-K Pure Vanilla Extract

Directions

  1. Cream together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the beaten egg and mix well.
  3. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, and M-K Apple Pie Spice. Combine with raisins and nuts.
  4. Heat the sweetened applesauce to boiling point, then add it alternately with the sugar mixture and the flour mixture to the creamed ingredients.
  5. Mix until well combined.
  6. Turn the batter into a greased and floured pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
  8. This cake needs no frosting.
